As a part of celebrating 20 years of electronic music in Tromsø, Insomnia Festival has invited the world-local artist Per Martinsen (aka Mental Overdrive, aka WAVE∞FORM) and the previous Cloud: Exit talent and thriving star Louisa Palmi to create a commission work for this years festival.

Enfold is a musical work that explores the things that exist in the hidden. Through textures, contrasts and massive enveloping sound, a dialogue between two artists who have never met before is presented. Where most people have their first meeting on the surface, they meet in the deep.

Louisa Palmi (f. 1995) works with electroacoustic and acousmatic music, sound and multi-media installations. One of her main focuses is immersive sound and how the feeling of space can be transformed by manipulating sound. Sounding matter around us gives her music contrasting textures together with generated sounds and electroacoustic instrumentation. Since being a part of the Cloud Exit program in 2020 her work has been presented in many scenes for contemporary music. She has been commissioned by organisations such as Arctic Arts Festival and Electric Audio Unit.

Per Martinsen hails from the town of Tromsø in the far north of Norway. Alongside artists like Biosphere and Bjørn Torske he was part of the first batch of Norwegian electronic musicians making an international mark back in the late eighties and early nineties. Under his techno alias Mental Overdrive he has released records on labels such as R&S Records, Smalltown Supersound and his own Love OD Communications. He has also collaborated with, and done remixes of a long list of other artists, scored films and composed for theatre and contemporary dance performances.
