Ingrid Rollema is a Dutch visual artist and international layer. After her directorship at the Free Academy for Visual Arts in The Hague she returned to her studio. She mainly focuses on war and the roads that leads towards it. She is the founder of Theater of Wrong Decisions. Theater of Wrong Decisions can be briefly described as a fusion of visual arts and theatre. It manifests itself in short video productions critically responding to highly controversial and sensitive issues in today’s world. The video clips are closely linked to similar situations in Shakespeare’s plays. By using Shakespeare quotes the participants of ToWD are putting current issues of moral concern into universal perspective. In the context of Theater of Wrong Decisions she is developing the project Blinded by the Light about truth and delusion. A experiment with statues and shadows. The light installation creates the shadows of the sculptures in a fluid setting of grim, deforming silhouettes as metaphors of fear, longing and time. She makes bronze grasshoppers as a metaphor for the human condition. We are behaving like animals looking in the headlights we do not move and wait as if frozen for what is to come. A poor response to major events such as climate change and related wars that are coming our way.
For 30 years Ingrid is connected to and working with Palestinian artists in Gaza. She pays visits on a regular basis and is witness of a continuing war.
