Hyperaktivist (VE/GER)

Thursday 27.10, Verdensteateret, 23.00

In 2009, Hyperaktivist began to lay the groundwork for what would soon become her DJ career. Ana Laura Rincón’s blend of hyperactivity and activism was developed by and through the electronic music scene in her native Venezuela, a country with few record stores and even fewer electronic music industry affiliations. Upon discovering the small underground electronic music scene in her hometown of Maracaibo, Rincón began organizing events, DJ-ing alongside friends and visiting musicians. She went on to co-found SOLO, a club which would become the go-to place for all electronic musicians and DJs throughout Venezuela.

She soon formed the Next Phaze collective, bringing together a series of DJs, street artists, VJs, visual artists and graphic designers. This enterprise quickly gave rise to a new concept of electronic music events for Rincón, in which she incorporates visual environments using techniques such as video mapping and 3-D imaging.

Rincón relocated to Berlin in early 2012 to continue to pursue her career as a music producer. Her sets are powerful, deep and fluid, never subscribing to a single sound or genre, mixing techno with percussive grooves, deeply-sentimental transitions and uplifting house.

“I enjoy to make unlikely mixes using different styles of electronic music to generate contrasts, working with a lot of dub and bass and electro and techno until I’m able to drive you into a really sweet party mood that keep you one your feet the whole night long.”
